Palm Sunday Preschool Craft

This is an easy project for a Palm Sunday Preschool Craft. The candles represent the three hours Jesus spent on the cross. Older children can make this also.
Palm Sunday Preschool Craft
Materials:
- 3 toilet paper tubes for each project
- Pink or other pastel colored construction paper
- Bright yellow construction paper
- A "silver" tray (from the party store or a piece of heavy cardboard covered
- with aluminum foil) About 6" by 6" (15 cm. by 15 cm.)
- Pastel colored tissue paper
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape
- Regular tape
Method:
- Ahead of time, an adult should cut pastel construction paper rectangles, 4 1/2" by 6" (11 1/4 cm. by 16 cm), enough for the children to pick three each.
- Older children can cut their own.
- Ahead of time, an adult should draw "flames" (about 2" high, or 5 cm) on the yellow construction paper and make copies onto yellow construction, enough for each child to have 3 flames.
- Ahead of time, an adult should cut 6" by 6" (15 cm. by 15 cm) squares of heavy cardboard (if silver trays are not available).
- Give each child 3 toilet paper tubes and allow them to choose 3 pastel rectangles.
- Glue the rectangles to the tubes.
- Have each child cut out 3 flames and tape 1 to the inside of each tube, showing above the top.
- Have each child cover a heavy cardboard square with foil, folding it under.
- Use double-stick tape to tape the candles to the "tray."
- Let the child choose one color of tissue and crumple it to go around the base of the candles.
- Put some double-stick tape down to hold it there.
